Media Release
Energy Matters, an industry-leading educational website for Australians, celebrates 20 years in the renewable energy industry. The auspicious milestone is marked by the impending release of its brand-new TV show, Energy Matters. The show, which will be broadcast on Channel 9Life and syndicated on streaming platforms, will showcase new technologies, provide tips and advice, and explore the ins and outs of renewable energy technology and services.
Looking back: Energy Matters’ journey
In 2005, as the industry was slowly finding its feet, Energy Matters was born around a quiet Melbourne kitchen table. Humble beginnings quickly led to Energy Matters becoming a successful solar retailer and a household name. Over 40,000 home, business, and commercial installations occurred until the business, then owned by Flextronics, changed direction in 2019 upon its sale. Upon the departure of Flextronics from the Australian market, the Energy Matters website was purchased by a group that saw its potential as a news and educational hub for all things renewable. Energy Matters the ‘solar retailer’ was no more. With CEO, Roshan Ramnarain at the helm, Energy Matters steered in a new direction.

“Australians had been lacking clear and concise information about solar and renewables for decades”, stated Roshan. “Consumer confidence was at an all-time low and scammers were taking advantage of Australians looking to do the right thing and save money”.
“Energy Matters delivers information about solar, batteries, electric vehicles, energy upgrades, and so much more, in a format that is easy to follow and understand. Australian home and business owners can request free, competitive quotes from local and trusted installers”.
The birth of Energy Matters, the TV show
Stepping into television was synergy in motion. Shows like Open Homes Australia and Renovate or Rebuild were the perfect platforms for Energy Matters to educate Australians on the products available to them. More importantly, they were opportunities to demonstrate why these products are fantastic for saving money and reducing your carbon footprint. Energy Matters featured as renewable energy experts in seasons 1 and 2 of Renovate or Rebuild and seasons 5, 6, 7, and the upcoming 8th season of Open Homes Australia on the Channel 9 network.
Energy Matters, the TV show, grew as a natural extension of Energy Matters’ service offerings and previous television exposure. Eyeing a gap in the market, Roshan saw the potential for a show focused on clean energy technologies, services, and innovation. When implemented, these could save homes and businesses money on their energy bills and the cost of living.

“The solar, renewable, and electric vehicle industries have exploded with new technology and innovations. With so many options available, and confusion and misinformation prevalent, Energy Matters seeks to close the gap and truly answer common questions from the community”, stated Roshan.
“We’ve had renters asking us if they can install solar, motorbike enthusiasts umming and ahhing about electric alternatives, and question marks surrounding the viability of hydrogen energy. All of these, and more, are addressed thoroughly in season one of Energy Matters as we aim to empower the audience to make greener choices; saving a few hard-earned dollars in the process”.

Joining Roshan as co-host will be interior design extraordinaire and television presenter James Treble.
