Answer: I just measured the current draw under no-load conditions. I measured 440 milliamps with no load at 12.7 volts input. Also, the fan does not run continuously, but only comes on when the temperature is too high. I normally draw about 100 watts average to operate my Amateur Radio equipment and the fan rarely comes on.
3. Will 2000w handle gas furnace 115v 60hz 8.7 amp & 90000btu?
Answer: 115V @ 8.7A = 1KW. The problem is running 12V @ 83A (1KW) on the DC side. If you add a few more loads you are over 100A and we also have not added start up amps. I am going to suggest you have a electrician look at your situation. I will say Samlex is a great inverter and I have had good luck with mine.
4. Is it ok to install on a off road vehicle? I’m concerned with the constant vibration.
Answer: I have 2 Samlex, 600 watt and a 1,000 watt mounted in my truck camper. Many 1,000s of miles on dirt/gravel rough Forest Service roads in the West and have had no issues. I would be more concerned with dust, so mounting it in a protected area would be beneficial.

Answer: Yes the USB port is active even with the inverter off. That is because it is a dc current 12 v outlet while the inverter, when on, produces 110. As mentioned you could shunt it off. But this allows you to have 12 power for a spotlight or some light without having to turn on the inverter and waste the amp draw. Your charge controller also may have a live USB port as my wanderer does
2. How loud is the cooling fan??
Answer: I mounted it in the front outside storage compartment of our travel trailer , which is under the bed inside and we don’t hear it inside. I would say it’s similar to a refrigerator fan.
3. Can the car’s 12v battery operate this inverter while the car is running
Answer: The car battery will power the inverter regardless of whether the car is running or not assuming the inverter is wired directly to the battery. Load on the inverter can’t exceed manufacturer specs either way.
4. What gauge wiring is needed to connect the inverter to my car’s battery? I’d like to use alternate wiring than what came with it.
Answer: You can use 2 gauge wire if the inverter is less than 4′ away from the battery and 1 gauge if farther away. You should not use an inverter like this with a starter battery except for very short durations (seconds). Put a 150 amp fuse between the battery and the inverter. Keep in mind that you are dealing with welding capable amperages here.

Answer: Refrigerator usage is strongly a function of age. The newer it is, the less it uses. I think mine, 4 years old, uses about 300W so it can easily be powered by the inverter.
