World4Solar, a Reno, Nevada-based solar racking manufacturer, recently showcased its solar carport solutions at RE+ 2023 in Las Vegas.
The patented World4Solar HelioWing 5 is a solar canopy built for outdoor and parking spaces, which also works as a carport with its integrated EV charger. The carport has a 7.38-kW output is designed for smaller applications and where space is limited, like driveways, smaller parking lots and backyards. HelioWing 7 has a 9.84-kW output and is designed for commercial projects, like like bigger parking lots, golf courses and car dealerships.
The systems provide enough solar energy to power a whole house, offer EV charging and can operate as a standalone solution or be connected to the local power grid. Standalone systems come with integrated battery packs to store solar energy up to 25 kWh or up to 100 kWh with an external battery module.
“Renewable energy and electric vehicles are the two sides of the same coin,” said Frank Rieger, CEO of SolUp, a World4Solar installation partner. “Both technologies are inseparably connected. HelioWing’s car ports offer a new and exciting approach to bringing both worlds together, enabling Sol-Up to address this market with unique products that disrupt current design and technology paradigms.”
SolUp built a HelioWing 5 carport in a parking lot near the Bellagio Hotel & Casino in less than six hours during RE+ week. World4Solar is currently developing a solar tracking system, as well.
