Emporia has launched the Vue 3 Energy Monitor, a home energy management product that provides circuit-level insights from a home’s electrical panel.

The Vue 3 integrates with Emporia’s smart plugs, Level 2 EV charger, home battery system, third-party smart thermostats and appliances with automations to ensure customers see savings on energy bills.

“We see the Vue 3 as the backbone of our Home Energy Management System and growing ecosystem of automated energy management tools,” said Shawn McLaughlin, chief executive officer, Emporia. “By taking in feedback from a variety of sources and making design improvements, we’ve been able to deliver a number of feature upgrades that not only make the Vue 3 the most user-friendly product in its class but also deliver even more accurate readings for maximum savings.”

New features to the Vue 3:

  • Enhanced Accuracy: Consistent accuracy across a range of load power factors. Voltage channels are now independently measured, essentially eliminating errors caused by adjacent channels.
  • Networking/Connectivity: In addition to wifi, the Vue 3 Energy Monitor now offers a wired Ethernet connection for more reliable networking insulated from interference across longer distances where wifi may not be available, providing more installation flexibility.
  • Terminals/Ports: CT sensor connections have been upgraded to more secure and reliable screw terminals/ports. Also, screw terminals allow the power harness and CT wires to be trimmed to reduce clutter in the panel.
  • Packaging: Box sizes were reduced by 27% to lower packaging carbon footprint.
  • UL Certification: Energy monitor is UL 61010 certified and now certified for operation at altitudes up to 3,000 m, up from 2,000 m.
  • Device Setup: Improved ease of setup and onboarding with unique QR codes on the device and Getting Started Guide.
  • Installation/Mounting: Compatible with DIN rail mounting for a more durable installation. Additionally, branch sensor ports consolidated on a single side and all surfaces flattened to provide more installation options in tight spaces which can be especially important in older homes. Optional DIN rail mount will be available at shop.emporiaenergy.com.
  • Status Lights: Improved status LED patterns and visibility for service personnel.

At launch, the Vue 3 Energy Monitor will be enabled with Home Connect support. This unique integration gives Emporia’s Vue 3 Energy Monitor the ability to control the connected appliances homeowners already have in order to save money on energy bills when electricity is more expensive or to utilize otherwise wasted energy from solar. Connected washers, dryers, refrigerators, wine coolers and dishwashers from brands such as Bosch, Thermador, Siemens, Neff, Gaggenau and more can be managed.

The Vue 3 Energy Monitor is available today starting at $99 for whole home monitoring, $149 for whole home plus eight individual appliance/circuit sensors, and $199.99 for whole home plus 16 individual appliance/circuit sensors at emporiaenergy.com and on Amazon.
