Solar panel company LONGi has launched its latest design, the Hi-Mo X6 Max series, which uses the industry-compromised new wafer size of 182.2 × 191.6 mm (M11).
The M11 wafer size was agreed to by six manufacturers in 2023 — Canadian Solar, Chint (Astronergy), DAS Solar, LONGi, Risen Energy and Tongwei. The new rectangular wafer has a diagonal of 262.5 mm, and will be standardized for 72-cell panels. LONGi’s new Hi-Mo X6 Max module is 2,382 × 1,134 mm (94 x 45 in.). The company’s previous modules using M10 wafers were about 4 inches shorter in length.
There are no other provided details on the power rating or efficiency of the new solar panel.
The Hi-Mo X6 Max modules are the first to feature LONGi’s “TaiRay” wafer with hybrid passivated back contact (HPBC) cell technology. The modules are now in mass production and should become LONGi’s mainstream product by Q3 this year.
