North Carolina-based Sugar Hollow Solar is celebrating 14 years of installing solar in western North Carolina and upstate South Carolina and recently received its B Corporation certification. The B Corp certification is held by just a dozen companies in western North Carolina and highlights companies’ dedication to excellence in social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.
“We’ve always been a mission-driven company and this certification allows us to join over 8,000 other like-minded businesses worldwide who all agree that business is not just about profits, but can and should be a source for positive social and environmental change. It’s pushed us to make some positive changes in how we do things and will continue to help us get better. We’re really excited to celebrate this milestone with our customers and community partners,” said CEO and founder Doug Ager.
To commemorate Sugar Hollow Solar’s B Corp certification the company is hosting a series of fundraising initiatives throughout August, benefiting nonprofit partner MountainTrue. On Aug. 17, Sugar Hollow Solar will throw a birthday bash at Hickory Nut Gap. More details can be found here. The company is also hosting a silent auction through Aug. 1, 2024. All proceeds will support MountainTrue’s efforts to preserve the natural beauty and ecological health of western North Carolina.
In addition, for every Discovery Call scheduled by homeowners or businesses interested in solar solutions through August, Sugar Hollow Solar will donate $14 to MountainTrue.
“Our partnership this year with MountainTrue has aligned perfectly with our mission to support environmental stewardship and sustainable practices,” said Doug Ager. “By donating $14 for each Discovery Call, we aim to amplify our impact on top of our referral donations and encourage our community to explore the benefits of solar energy.”
