Have you ever wondered how a solar panel is made? The inaugural episode of Energy Matters revealed and explored this fascinating process. Roshan was invited to tour AIKO’s mammoth manufacturing facilities in China. Located in Zhuhai, the enormous facility produces 1.5 solar modules per minute and houses R&D, quality control, and manufacturing. As a world-leading high-efficiency solar module manufacturer, AIKO’s facilities are a testament to its goal of delivering high-quality panels.

About the episode

Roshan and the crew travelled to China to meet with Ellen from AIKO. Before touring the manufacturing facilities, Ellen showed Roshan the raw materials used to create solar panels. AIKO is famous for its All Back Contact (ABC) N-type panels. The company processes silicon into ingots, which are then cut into wafers. These wafers are then manufactured into the solar cells that form the module.

Exploring the facility, we saw how robots handle most of the module production. Quality control testing and monitoring of each step ensure the safety and quality of each solar module that comes off the production line.

The final part of the AIKO facility tour took Roshan and Ellen to the top of BIPV modules currently in R&D.

About AIKO solar panels

AIKO solar panels are gaining popularity in Australia for residential use, thanks to their advanced technology and high efficiency.
