Episode 5 of Energy Matters took us inside the home of our host, James Treble. The newly renovated masterpiece now features solar, a long-awaited addition that James and his family are already benefiting from. Roshan joins James as they take a tour of this beautiful home.

About the Episode

Roshan said it best when he described James’ home before its makeover: ugly! The original red brick facade was replaced with a gorgeous white exterior, which elevates the home’s street presence. Beyond the yellow font door lies a completely overhauled interior. From colour choices to texture and positioning, James shows us why he is the go-to for interior design expertise.

But beyond the home’s aesthetics rested a need for an energy solution. Soaring energy bills drove James to install solar panels. As the panels would partially face the street, James’ choice to install LONGi Hi-MO X6 panels would also meet the aesthetic brief. The 10kW solar system is also EV-ready, with cabling already positioned for a future EV charger. Another clever and forward-thinking design choice by James.

James’ decision to choose LONGi solar panels and install them on the east, west, and north-facing sides of his roof allows his family to benefit from the sun throughout the day. The low profile of the X6 panels provides sleek aesthetics and minimal wind resistance.

Why James chose LONGi Solar Panels for his home

James Treble selected the LONGi Hi-MO X6 panels because they strike the perfect balance between performance, reliability, and design. These panels use HPBC (Hybrid Passivated Back Contact) cell technology, which increases light absorption and minimises energy loss. With a maximum efficiency of 22.5%, they deliver more power per square metre—ideal for homes with limited roof space or higher energy demands. That means James can generate more energy with fewer panels, leaving room for future additions like battery storage or EV chargers.

The panels are also built tough for Aussie conditions. LONGi has engineered them to resist extreme heat, heavy rainfall, and high winds, making them a durable solution for Australia’s unpredictable weather. Beyond the tech, James appreciated their sleek, all-black design—a subtle aesthetic that suits modern architecture without dominating the roofline. Add to that LONGi’s solid warranties (25-year performance and product guarantees), and it’s clear why James saw them as a smart long-term investment in sustainability and style.

If you missed the episode, be sure to catch up via encores on Sunday at 8am, Tuesday at 6:30am, and Thursday at 10:30am.
