Major government subsidies slash storage costs
Under the new policy, eligible households and small businesses installing solar battery systems can access federal rebates from 1 July 2025. For example, a 6 kWh system could receive around A$2,220 in subsidies, while a larger 27 kWh installation may qualify for nearly A$10,000. Additional state-level incentives, such as New South Wales’ top-up of up to A$1,500, further reduce upfront costs.
Australian Federal Minister for Climate Change and Energy, Chris Bowen, recently visited OSW, expressing strong support for the Cheaper Home Battery Scheme and the manufacturers committed to bringing the initiative to life when it officially launched on July 1st.
