Intersolar & Energy Storage North America (IESNA) announced the 2026 Solar Games in San Diego, California, will feature two key changes:

  • Point-based system: Instead of single-elimination, teams now compete for points each round. The teams with the highest totals advance, ensuring the top performers are in the finals.
  • Updated eligibility: Teams that have competed two years in a row now only need to wait one year before applying again.

These changes give competitors more opportunities to showcase their skills and strategy — while creating a high-energy experience for spectators.

The rewards remain the same: First place wins a $10,000 cash prize; second place wins $3,500; third place wins $2,500. Participating teams can receive up to $2,500 to support travel costs.

The application deadline has also been extended to October 3. Click here to apply.
